All UTHCPC patients have a right to legal representation. The Court Liaison's
office coordinates the legal process regarding patients.
The Court Liaison's department provides the following services:
 | Keeps the dockets for hearings (schedule for patients) |
| Handles questions/concerns for Probate Judges and Assistant County Attorneys. |
| Handles documents and correspondence between patient charts (units) and the courts |
| Facilitates transfers to other state facilities i.e. Rusk Hospital |
| Facilitates guardianship letters for the physicians |
For further information, staff can contact the Court Liaison's Department whenever there are questions regarding legal status or legal processes relating to a patient.
