Purpose

Control of hazardous material in the facility ensures patient and staff safety.

Responsibility

The Safety Officer is responsible for the hazardous material and hazardous waste programs.

Compliance

The Hazardous Material Management plan complies with applicable laws and regulations.

Plan characteristics

The Hazardous Material Management plan includes:

Policies and procedures for identifying, handling, storing, using, and disposing of hazardous materials from generation to final disposal

Training for and monitoring of personnel who manage and/or regularly come into contact with hazardous materials and/or waste, as appropriate

Monitoring compliance with program requirements

Evaluation of the effectiveness of the program Including: Reports to the Safety Committee and to those responsible for other appropriate monitoring activities.
