The Biomedical Coordinator has the following equipment management responsibilities:

Equipment for inclusion in the plan

Inventory

All equipment included in the plan regardless of the equipment's ownership

Note: The inventory should be current, separate, and accurate

Equipment failures and user errors that have or may have an adverse effect on patient safety and/or the quality of care

Safety Committee responsibilities

The Safety Committee and other appropriate staff to identify equipment performance and/or use problems by reviewing the following:

Equipment failures: Equipment failing to perform must be removed from the unit immediately and report it to the Medical equipment manager. Back up equipment is located in room 1-A87, (after hour access by the nursing supervisor on duty). AED backup batteries are located in the Medical equipment manager’s office 1-A60A.

Recalls: If any medical equipment is recalled, the equipment must be removed from service immediately.
