Employee Salary and Job Change

In order to work within budgetary constraints and implement employee changes on the payroll system, UTHCPC requires its departments to initiate a Personnel Action form (PA) for any type of change affecting the employee's position or salary.

Process

The changes of the employee's job or salary occurs as follows:

Description

The department manager

Determines an action is required pertaining to an employee's job or salary

Consults with the PSM department on complex changes and for assistance with salary changes, if applicable

Evaluates with PSM department the salary structure of the department and expertise of the employee

Completes, signs, and forwards a paper PA form to the designated Director and senior manager for approval

Attaches a justification to the PA

Director

Signs the PA form and forwards it to the Personal Systems Management (PSM) department

Administrative assistant

Reviews PA for signatures

Forwards PA to the Director, PSM

Director, PSM

Verifies that the change has met UT HOOP guidelines

Verifies the budget to ensure availability of funds

On occasion, may consult with the Administrator and Human Resources regarding reclassifications, promotions, and salary increases

Signs the PA form

Administrative Assistant

Enters the change onto a template and forwards to Human Resources for entry into the Payroll System

Files the original copy of the PA form in the employee's personnel file
