Department manager creates a job description using the UT standard JIQ format. Completes a Job Information Questionnaire.

UTHSCH Compensation department classifies the position based on existing UTHSC-H job titles or creates a new title.

If a new title is created UTHSCH Compensation completes a salary analysis for the job classification and determines an appropriate salary range.

UTHSCH Compensation department enters the job description into the compensation program which can be accessed online at the HR website.

Department manager creates a competency-based job description and reviews job description with affected employees.

When to review

Department managers review/change the job descriptions with affected employees at the following times:

Upon recruitment of new staff

When an employee transfers/promotes to another job
