UTHCPC Employee Appreciation Day – Wednesday, May 11
As a special thank you to all UTHCPC Employees, a special Employee Appreciation Day will be held Wednesday, May 11. Join the UTHCPC Administration and Employee Appreciation Day Committee (Carolyn Eli, Brenda York, Patricia Averill, Sherri Orioli, Jennifer McNamara, Joanie Nourlund and Gene McCardle) for a bar-b-q lunch from 11:30 am – 1:30 pm or 5 pm – 7 p.m. There will be food, games and prizes.

Thanks To All UTHCPC Nurses – National Nurses Week
The University of Texas Harris County Psychiatric Center Department of Nursing is celebrating National Nurses Week, which begins May 6th and ends May 12th. In honor of the dedication, commitment and tireless effort to promote and maintain the health care needs of the patients, Nursing Administration would like to say “We Appreciate You!” We thank you for the valuable role you play as a member of our nursing team and for always doing your best to provide comfort, hope and care. Your dedication and efforts make a vital difference in the lives of the people we serve.

Activities are scheduled as follows:

May 9, 2005
7-3 Shift

  • Nursing staff will be given a beautiful carnation as they arrive on duty to start their day
  • Breakfast will be served to the weekend and 7-3 shift staff in conference room 3A01
  • A stress reducing basket filled with goodies will be delivered to each of the nursing units
  • Drawing opportunities to win gift certificates, gift cards, gift baskets and more

3-11 Shift

  • Nursing staff will be given a beautiful carnation as they arrive on duty to start their day
  • Nursing staff will receive freshly popped hot popcorn as they enter the building
  • A stress reducing basket filled with goodies will be distributed to all Nursing Units
  • Pizza and drinks will be delivered to each of the nursing units
  • Drawing opportunities to win gift certificates, gift cards, gift baskets and more

11-7 Shift

  • Nursing staff will be given a beautiful carnation as they arrive on duty to start their night
  • A stress reducing basket filled with goodies will be distributed to all Nursing Units
  • Drawing opportunities to win gift certificates, gift cards, gift baskets and more

Outpatient/Partial Services

  • Nursing staff will be given a beautiful carnation as they arrive on duty to start the day
  • A stress reducing basket filled with goodies will be distributed to outpatient services
  • Pizza and drinks will be delivered and served in the afternoon.
  • Drawing opportunities to win gift certificates, gift cards, gift baskets and more

Nursing Staff Throughout the Hospital
Nurses who are working in varied roles in departments throughout UTHCPC will be recognized with stress reducing baskets filled with goodies, and drawing opportunities to win gift certificates, gift cards, gift baskets and more

May 10, 2005

  • Nursing staff will be given a beautiful carnation as they arrive on duty to start their day

  • Breakfast will be served to the 11-7 and 7-3 shift staff in conference room 3A01

May 14,2005

  • Drawing opportunities to win gift certificates, gift cards, gift baskets and more
  • A stress reducing basket filled with goodies will be placed on each unit
  • Catered meal is provided 6pm-8pm Saturday for both weekend shift staff members

The Nursing Department would like to thank the Public Information Department, the Pharmacy Department and the members of the nursing staff for their generous contributions towards making Nurses Week one of the best ever.

Summer Jobs for High School, College Students
The Seasonal Hire Program (formerly known as the Summer Hire Program) is designed to provide invaluable UT Health Science Center-related work experience and career insights to high school students, college students and teachers.

Seasonal Hires may be hired only into Temporary status positions. Temporary status allows an individual to be employed for a period of not more than four and one-half months. Seasonal Hire positions may be either full-time or part-time. To participate in this program, individuals must be at least 16 years of age.

UTHCPC will host a blood drive on Thursday, May 12, from 7:30 am – 2:30 pm in the auditorium.

Department of Psychiatry and Behavioral Sciences Lecture Series and Faculty Meeting
There will be no faculty meeting during the month of May.

The lectures are held from 11 am to 12 noon at the MSI Auditorium, located on the first floor, 1300 Moursund. The lecture series follows:
