Cynthia
Williams Santos, M.D., assistant Professor in the Department
of Psychiatry
and Behavioral Sciences at The University of Texas Medical
School at Houston, has served as Training Director of the
Division of Child and Adolescent Psychiatry since 1993.
Santos received her bachelor's degree from Trinity University
in San Antonio in 1982 and her medical degree from The University
of Texas Medical School at Houston in 1986. She completed
a general psychiatry residency at the UT Medical School at
Houston in 1989 and a fellowship in child psychiatry from
the same institution, where she served as chief resident from
1990-91.
She is board-certified in general and child psychiatry by
the American Board of Psychiatry and Neurology and is a member
of numerous professional organizations. Memberships include
the American Academy of Child and Adolescent Psychiatry, American
Psychiatric Association, Texas Medical Association, Harris
County Medical Society, and the Texas Society of Child and
Adolescent Psychiatry, among others. She also serves on a
number of professional committees, including as chair of the
Resident Education Committee for Child Psychiatry Fellowships
since 1993.
Santos also has received several honors and awards for her
professional service, including the Dean's Teaching Excellence
Award for four separate years. In 1997, she was named the
"Outstanding Lecturer" for Child Psychiatry Fellows.
