Joel
L. Steinberg, M.D.,
Associate Professor in the Department of Psychiatry and Behavioral
Sciences at The University of Texas Medical School at Houston,
has served as a Staff Psychiatrist at UTHCPC since 1995.
Steinberg received his bachelor's degree from the University
of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign in 1970 and his medical degree
from the University of Illinois College of Medicine in Chicago
in 1974. He completed his residency in psychiatry at the Illinois
State Psychiatric Institute in Chicago, where he pursued research
training in biological psychiatry and served as Assistant
Ward Chief of the Biological Psychiatry Research Unit from
1977-78.
Prior to joining the UT-Health Science Center at Houston faculty
in August 1995, Steinberg was a faculty member at UT Southwestern
Medical Center in Dallas (1986-95) and the LSU School of Medicine
in Shreveport, LA (1979-86).
He is board-certified in general psychiatry by the American
Board of Psychiatry and Neurology and is a member of numerous
professional organizations, including the American Psychiatric
Association, American Medical Association, National Society
for Neuroscience, International Society for Functional Mapping
of the Human Brain and the International Society for Neuroimaging
in Psychiatry.
