Investigators are responsible for extra caging costs
when pups are 4+ weeks old and shipping costs.

Transgenic Mice

Request Service

Investigators are responsible for supplying DNA of specified quality for microinjection.
For microinjection of BAC and YAC clones, or using mouse strains other than
C57Bl/6, please contact the Core Facility at (713) 500-2452.

Microinjection fees are payable upon receipt of at least 3 transgenic mice.
Investigators are responsible for providing proof of technical expertise
to detect the transgene.

Knock-Out Mice

(1) Transfection and Selection of ES Cells

(Service does not include construction of
targeting vector and screening of selected clones)

Service includes:
Culturing of 129 or C57Bl/6 ES cells on G418-resistant primary MEF feeder cells
Electroporation and antibiotic selection of ES cells
Providing 200+ ES cell clones for screening (duplicates will be stored at -80°C)
Expansion and preparation of targeted ES cell clones for blastocyst microinjection

Transfection and Selection of ES cells	$4,800.00
Total Cost	$7,300.00

The transfection of C57Bl/6 ES cells is an additional $500.00.

(2) Microinjection of Targeted ES Cell Clones
and Generation of Chimeras

Targeted ES cell clones are to be provided by either the investigator
or from the above service. We recommend the microinjection of 3 separate,
targeted ES cell clones (3 days of microinjection).

Set-up Fee (payable prior to microinjection)	$1,700.00
Microinjection of 129 ES cells (payable upon receipt of at least 3 chimeras)	$3,100.00
Total Cost	$4,800.00

Microinjection fees are payable upon receipt of at least 3 chimeras. The
microinjection of C57Bl/6 ES cells into BALB/c blastocysts is an additional $700.00.

Cryopreservation of Embryos

Request Service

Investigators are responsible for supplying, superovulating and mating donor female
mice (a maximum of 20 mice per freezing session; mice may be from more than 1 line).
We will supply the gonadotropins.

Embryo Cryopreservation	$400.00
Annually Renewable Storage Fee	$50.00

Please contact the Core Facility for other services, including
expansion of ES cells and the re-derivation of mice into the Barrier Facility.
