Mission:
The mission of the University of Texas Health Services - Houston (UTHS) is to provide high quality, cost-effective primary and occupational health care services, while providing educational and research opportunities for university faculty and students.
Objectives and Achievements:
- To serve individual and group occupational and primary care needs.
- To provide educational opportunities for students.
- To promote clinical research focused on primary care interventions and outcomes.

Patient Services:
Services provided include comprehensive primary care across the life span, occupational medicine, health education, travel medicine, and radiological and laboratory services.
Patient Populations:
UTHS is the provider for all employee health care for:
- The University of Texas Health Science Center at Houston
- Selected City of Houston and State of Texas Employees
- Students at Texas Woman's University and the University of St. Thomas
- Private patients in need of primary care

Research and Education :
Each provider participates in the education of undergraduate, graduate, and residents throughout The University of Texas Health Science Center at Houston. Each provider is encouraged to participate in research activities on an annual/ongoing basis. UTHS is affiliated with several national and international organizations participating in healthcare research.
UTHS
continues to implement and upgrade its Practice Partners electronic medical records software package, maintaining cutting-edge status by having all of the clinic's functions, including patient medical records, appointments and finances, completely online. As a result of our computerized charting we participate in multiple ongoing research studies.
Pharmacy:
UTHS maintains its Class D Pharmacy license with the State of Texas. This in-clinic pharmacy provides patients with immediate access to medications, lower costs and improved patient education at the time of service. No controlled substances are kept onsite.

Languages:
Several UTHS staff members are bi-lingual - English/Spanish.
Staff:
UTHS is staffed with a Clinical Director/Assistant Professor (Nurse Practitioner), a Professor, an Assistant Professor and an Instructor of Clinical Nursing (all Nurse Practitioners), Licensed Vocational Nurses, Registered Nurses, Medical Assistants, an Administrative Team, a part-time Computer Support person, and a part-time Research Coordinator. A part-time Physician (20%) is contracted through The University of Texas School of Public Health at Houston's Center for Occupational and Environmental Health.
