Diabetes Education
Diabetes Self Management Education (DSME) is an ongoing process designed to teach individuals how to manage their diabetes. We begin this process with a series of three classes which will provide information about how to monitor blood sugar control, reduce the risks associated with diabetes, eat healthier, increase activity levels, take medications correctly, problem solve, and coping with diabetes. The group classes are interactive and informative, designed to address your unique situation and goals.
Each class is approximately 3 hours long, and will cover selected topics. The classes are led by certified diabetic educators with group participation strongly encouraged. The following is a brief outline of the program:
- Class 1:
- Monitoring
- Reducing Risks
- Problem Solving
- Class 2:
- Healthy Eating
- Increasing Activity
- Class 3:
- Medications
- Coping Strategies
Covered by most insurance carriers, classes are taught by certified diabetic educators. To find out information regarding locations, dates, and times, please see the link on our home page. We offer both morning and evening classes for your convenience.
Whether you are newly diagnosed with diabetes, or have had diabetes for years, everyone can use a little HELP with their diabetes.
