American Medical Women's Assocation at UT-Houston

In 1915, at a time when female physicians were underrepresented, Dr. Bertha van Hoosen founded the American Medical Women's Association. AMWA was established to provide a voice for women's health and to promote the advancement of women in medicine, which it continues today, more than 90 years later.

The famous "Mr. UT-Houston Med Man Pageant" was started in 2008 to benefit our service projects, and we will continue this tradition in our upcoming 2010 Mangent in November.

Along with this new fundraiser, we're also incorporating a service project with a local battered women's shelter in the spring. We're continuing our annual "Save the Tatas" bake sale and Race for the Cure service project as well, so there's a lot to look forward to every year!
